It does not attempt to cover material more applicable to the MRCPath trainee. It places pathology in the context of modern medicine and cellular and molecular biology. The book is structured around the basic principles of pathology, the mechanisms of disease and then the systematic pathology (ie disease as it effects the different organ systems). Each chapter in the systematic section starts with a brief account of the normal structure and function of the organ or system, emphasizing those aspects which are important to an understanding of the disease processes.
