Geared for Growth. "Kristian Gerhard Jebsen (1927-2004) was one of the most important entrepreneurs in postwar Norway. After gaining experience in Norway and abroad, he established his own shipping company, Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi, in Bergen in 1967. The following year he initiated the Gearbulk pool with British, French and Norwegian interests. Four decades later, the companies that he founded held leading positions in three different specialised shipping segments, controlling a fleet of more than 100 ships.
